| Description/type of event (conference, monthly meeting, training, etc.): |
A drop-in gym program that is open for a 2 hour period for individuals, who
are disabled, to use a wheel chair adapted weight lifting machine
known as the "Freedom Machine". Participants will not have an individual
program developed for them but will have a supervised, safe environment
provided by the Therapeutic Recreation Department staff of Banner Good
Samaritan Rehabilitation Institute. Participants must be independent in
bringing themselves to, from, and working during the session. Spinal Cord
Injured participants should be C-5 or below because of independence needed
for being able to lift weights. Adapted weight cuffs are available for this
purpose and some assistance will be provided if needed. |
