Event title: NATIVE HEALTH Brown Bag - "Social Security Benefits Indian Country"
Description/type of event (conference, monthly meeting, training, etc.): Efforts are underway across the Nation to inform the public on updated information regarding Social Benefits and programs. Social Security administers programs that keep many elderly from poverty.

*Did you know that if you received one dollar of SSI, you are entitled to Medicaid?
*Did you know you can file for disability benefits online, as well as retirement benefits?
*Did you know what your FICA taxes pay for? Do you know what FICA taxes are?

While these are simple questions, they can seem very complicated to those unaware of what types of programs the Social Security Administration (SSA) administers and how these benefits are accessed.

In partnership with NATIVE HEALTH, the SSA will present a Brown Bag Learning Session on Tuesday, April 13 from noon to 1 PM in the large, third-floor conference room. Information will include how to file for benefits online, SSA webinar, Part D extra help and Medicare. Bring your lunch. NATIVE HEALTH will provide dessert. For more on SSA, contact Kimberly yellow robe, American Indian Public Affairs Specialist via Kimberly.Yellow.Robe@ssa.gov
