Event title: Living Well with Disabilities workshops
Description/type of event (conference, monthly meeting, training, etc.): Living Well with Disabilities is a 10 week program designed to improve general health and quality of life for adults with physical disabilities or chronic health problems. Topics discussed include setting goals, solving problems, beating the blues, healthy communication skills, seeking information, physical activity, nutrition, advocacy, and staying healthy. Those who have participated in the class report fewer problems with secondary conditions and a reduced use of costly medical services. They also report improved mental health and coping skills and a decrease in use of prescription pain relievers and sedatives.
